A message from Miranda......

Our vision for children and their families is to LOVE them and teach them to LOVE others, to help them LEARN about God and bring them close to Him through salvation, to SERVE them and teach them to serve others and finally to REACH families and teach them to reach others.

We have a new approach to Children’s Ministry. We areThinking Orange.”  This model, designed by Reggie Joiner brings the church and the parent together to teach children about Christ. The red heart of a parent working together with the yellow light of God through the church leaves us Thinking Orange.” We are committed to equipping, empowering and encouraging parents to teach their children about Christ.

We now have a new Children’s Ministry Team. The members are: David Derryberry, Jill Horn, Gretchen Jarrell, Cindy Bridges, Penny Weller, Christina Paxton and LeAnn Colwell.  Please feel free to speak with me or any of these team members with ideas or concerns that you may have ab0ut the Children’s Ministry.

One of the highlights of this newsletter is the Children’s Sunday School lesson information. You will always be able to see what your child is studying and you will be able to help your child make-up any missed lessons.

We are developing a Children’s Worship and hope to have it operational by the fall of 2012. Please contact me or one of the Children’s Ministry Team members if you would like to be a part of this.

There are many exciting changes ahead for the Children’s Ministry. I hope all of you will join us for the adventure!

Parents as Primary Teachers - Thinking Orange!
The primary responsibility for religious instruction of preschoolers and children belongs to parents.
The Holy Spirit works through Christian parents as they teach biblical truths in word and action.
HLBC and its ministries strive to assist and support parents as spiritual leaders by training them and teaching their children.

 Deuteronomy 6:6-9
These  commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.”

 News & Dates!

DID YOU KNOW?  HLBC offers a four-week class for children on how to become a Christian.  The class, “I’m a Christian Now!” is meant to be informative and fun. Children will learn about baptism and the Lord’s Supper, what it means to be a church member, and how to develop a habit of daily Bible reading and prayer.

The next regularly scheduled classes will be held in February 2012.  However, if your child has accepted Jesus as his/her Lord and Savior and wants to make a public profession of faith through Baptism, one-on-one instruction can be arranged at any time.

Please contact Miranda Cordle or Penny Weller for more information.

The cost is $195 each and a $25 deposit is due by January 14.  Scholarships are available.

Adults are welcome and needed as chaperones.
