There are many opportunities to be a part of the mission at Hunsinger.  Everyone has a role.  We are always looking to see where God is calling people to use their gifts. That's the way God builds His church (Ephesians 4).   We want to help you find your place of service.

 Decision Counseling

The purpose of the Altar Decision Counseling Ministry is to provide encouragement, prayer support and to present the plan of salvation to people as they come forward at the end of the Sunday worship service.

Weekly as needed 

 A/V Team

The goal of the Audio Video team is to enhance the worship experience at HLBC. 

The A/V team is focused on producing high-quality audio and clear cut video images that help create a distraction free, worshipful environment.   

Sunday Morning (8:30am to 1pm) / 2 to 3 times per month

 Campus Care

(Building & Grounds)

Campus Care Team serves the church by maintaining the building and campus grounds.   The appearance and upkeep of the campus and facilities sends a powerful message to the community.  

The Campus Care Team is responsible for campus landscaping, mowing; building maintenance, equipment repair, and facility improvements.  

Varies depending on your role. 

 
Children’s Ministry

The Children’s Ministry exists to glorify God as we help children become followers of Jesus Christ.   

The Children’s Ministry is a comprehensive vision designed to help children grow as disciples as they fulfill the mission to Love, Learn, Serve and Reach.

The Ministry includes: AWANA, Sunday School, Child Care for all congregational events, Easter Egg Hunt Outreach, VBS, Fall Harvest Party Outreach, Trunk-Or-Treat Outreach, and Mothers Day Out.

Cleaning Teams

The cleaning team serves all ministries of the church by assuring that the church is cleaned on a weekly basis.  Team members participate on one of five teams responsible for church cleaning on a particular Friday

2 to 4 hours per month.

 
Communications Team

The Communications Team serves all of the ministry teams of the church.  Design support is provided using all forms of communication tools including:  Web site, brochures, flyers, worship bulletin formatting, and signage. 

4 hours to 12 hours per month.  Varies depending on your role. 


Computer Systems Support

The computer system support team provides support to the church staff and A/V teams. 

This includes supporting the office network and server, office computer hardware and software technical support and telephone systems.

8 to 10 hours per month


Decorating Team

The Decorating Team serves the congregation by enhancing the appearance of the building with seasonal decorations for the church building.  

4 hours per month


Finance Team

The finance team serves the church by providing management of church finances including: offering counts, accounting,

Up to 20 hours per month depending on role


Food Pantry

The Good Samaritan food pantry shares God’s love and serves families in our community that request assistance.   This team oversees food collection, manages the pantry and the distribution of food.

Up to 16 hours per month depending on role


Food Services

The Food Services team serves the church by preparing meals and providing hospitality for various programs and events. 

This team prepares meals for: Wednesday night fellowship dinners, special events, the Mission Banquet, church picnics, Body Life new member luncheons, and meals for Funerals. 

Team participants can volunteer to help with all or selected events.

Greeters

The Greeter Ministry team serves the church by providing a welcome greeting and assistance to everyone as they enter the HLBC campus.  The goal is that everyone that attends a service at HLBC will experience the Love of Christ in a warm and caring way.

  1 to 2 hours per week on Sundays and Wednesdays


Guiding Light

Guiding Light is a new mission church plant hre in Louisville.  HLBC has partnered with Guiding Light to Love, Learn, Serve and Reach the Portland community in the  inner city.  

Opportunities for service with Guiding Light include:  leading Bible studies, ministry to single mothers, clothes closet, street evangelism, VBS, music, building repair, and many others.

Marriage Ministry

The Marriage Ministry Team helps couples in our church and community develop enjoyable and meaningful marriages that honor God. 

 he Marriage Ministry Team presents an annual marriage conference designed to encourage couples to reinvest in their marriages.

Mother's Day Out

Mother’s Day Out (MDO) is an outreach ministry designed to share God’s Love with Mothers and their children by providing them with affordable child care up to eight hours per week.

MDO also provides Christ centered teaching for children in a fun and active environment.   MDO is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30pm to 1:30pm.

Up to 10 hours per week.  Paid positions and volunteer work.

Ordinances

The Ordinances ministry team serves the church by providing setup for baptism and communion.   The ordinance team also provides assistance and encouragement to the baptism participants.

Up to 8 hours per month.  Saturday preparation / Sunday services

Personnel 

The Personnel Team provides Human Resources services to the HLBC staff and elders.   This includes assisting with annual reviews, compensation recommendations, assistance with hiring and employment issues and budgeting support.

Prayer

The Prayer Ministry Team helps to disciple and lead the  congregation in the purposes, and power of prayer. 

The Prayer Team lifts up prayer concerns through the prayer chain, prayer room, and the prayer warrior team.   Prayer warriors meet every week to pray for our world, our community, and the ministries and members of the church.  Prayer room warriors pray for specific requests submitted by members of the congregation. 

The Prayer Ministry Team helps disciple the church to become “a people of prayer” through weekly and monthly prayer guides that are published in the bulletin, and monthly prayer calendars.   

 

 Up to 12 hours per month. 


Refugee Ministry

The Refugee Ministry team leads the church to serve and reach the immigrant and refugee community of Lousville.  A very large population of internationals have moved to our city and have many basic needs including clothing, tutoring, including ESL and transportation.  The HLBC refugee team helps focus our church resources to share Christ's Love and the gospel with these new members of our community. 

 Varies based on service role 

Single Moms

The single moms ministry of HLBC serves the special needs of single mothers and their homes.  This ministry includes home repair, car maintenance, mentoring for children and prayer support.   At HLBC, single mom's can find love and support that is so vital for raising a family on their own.

Stewardship

The Stewardship Team helps disciple the Church to be good stewards of our God given resources (time, talents and finances).  In addition, the stewardship ministry helps raise awareness and provides teaching on what these resources are and how God planned for them to be used.  

This year the Stewardship team will be providing Biblically based training on how to glorify God as good stewards.  This includes teaching through sermons, Sunday School and Small Group Bible Studies.  

  4 to 6 hours per month


Sunday School and Discipleship Council

The Sunday School Ministry is currently our primary method for discipling the church to Love Others, Learn God’s Word and Reach the world for Christ.  The Adult Sunday School and Discipleship council is responsible for coordinating Sunday School teacher training, ordering Sunday School literature, raising awareness for Bible Study and Sunday School, planning discipleship strategies, and keeping Sunday School records.,  

Sunday School classes meet every Sunday morning at 9:15am for Bible Study and fellowship.  Classes also gather for fellowship events outside the classroom.  Sunday School classes are responsible for caring for each other’s needs and for reaching out to others that might become a part of the Sunday School small group experience. 

This year the Discipleship Council is sponsoring a Read Through the Bible in a Year campaign

  

2 to 4 hours per week including (90 min Bible Study on Sundays)

Ushers

The Ushers serve the church by providing assistance to everyone attending a worship service at HLBC.   This includes helping people find a seat, providing directions when asked, and the collection of tithes and offerings.   

The Ushers also have a focus on minimizing distractions to a worshipful environment during worship services.

2 hours on Sundays as needed


Worship Gatherings  

The Worship team leads the congregation in the service of Worship during Sunday worship gatherings.   Service opportunities include:  Praise Team, Worship Band, Greeters, Venue Setup, Altar Counseling, A/V, Ushers

Varies based on service role

Visitation

The Visitation Team provides follow up with everyone that attends a worship service and completes a ‘First Time Visitor Card’.  

The visitation team makes a personal visit to a visitor's home to extend a welcome and share the Gospel.

2 to 4 hours once per month

Video Ministry

The video ministry helps the church love, learn and reach.  The team provides videography of HLBC events, testimonies, promotional videos and podcasts that are used to share the gospel and good news of what God is doing at HLBC.  

6 to 8 hours per month

Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry exists to glorify God as we help student become followers of Jesus Christ.   The Youth Ministry has a comprehensive vision designed to challenge students discover God’s purpose for their lives.  Youth are discipled to grow as disciples of Jesus as they fulfill the mission to Love, Learn, Serve and Reach.

The Youth Ministry includes:
  ·  Sunday School Bible Study – Sunday  mornings at 9:15am
  ·   SNL (Sunday Night Live) – which meets every Sunday night 5pm-8pm.
       SNL incorporates food, fellowship, worship and small group Bible studies in 
       an exciting and active format for students of HLBC and their friends.
 ·    Mid-week service projects
 ·    Weekly Campus Outreach at several High Schools and Middle Schools
       in Jefferson County
 ·    A wide range of local, regional and internatnal mission projects
