"What's On My Mind" from Pastor Charlie

"Check this page often to share in some of the exciting things I see God doing in our church and in my life" - Pastor Charlie, Senior Pastor - HLBC.

What a blessing to witness others being baptized.  Yesterday, the following people publicly declared their faith in Jesus Christ:  Steven and Stephanie Carrol, Marissa McAdams, Clay Selby, Rebbeca Warren and Katrina Holden.  Each of these people have powerful stories of how God is at work in their lives.  They all have a passion to live for Christ.  This Sunday, several more are scheduled to be baptized as well.  To God be the glory!

Over the last couple of months it has also been exciting to watch Christ build His church as the following individuals have become members:  Steve and Angie Jones, John and Marsha Jones, Steven and Stephanie Carrol, Matt and Heather Gladhill, Rebecca Warren, Quinton and Cindy Bridges, Don Morris, Eric and Ebony Sayonkon, Tricia Sedoris, Sam and Kara Sedoris, Charlie Hardin and Jamie Holzheimer.

This week, I will be preaching from Acts 16:1-10; "The Macedonian Call."  Within this text, we discover the Apostle Paul insisting that Timothy respect the Mosaic Law and submit to circumcision, when only a short time earlier he fought against the Judaizers when they insist that the Gentiles be circumcised (Acts 15:1-3).  So, why does Paul require Timothy to be circumcised now?  Is Paul being inconsistent?  We also see Paul making strategic plans to revisit some churches when the Holy Spirit changes those plans.

From this weeks message, a few principles we will be considering are; "How can we maximize our effectiveness at reaching others for Christ?", and "What is the right balance between making stategic plans on the one hand, but also being sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit on the other?"

Tonight, Brian and I will be going to the U of L campus to meet new students at the BCM (Baptist Campus Ministry).  We will be giving them information about Hunsinger Lane (delicious brownies as well) and inviting them to prayerfully consider making us their church family (food always helps).  Hopefully we will be seeing some new college age faces.  Be sure and reach out to them by being friendly, inviting them out for a meal and opening your home.

Continue to be in prayer for those of our church family who have lost "loved ones:"  Shirley Clendenin, Ida Scott and Cathy Grant.
